Cromwell
Cromwell was born in 1959 in Guer in Morbihan. Provocative at heart, he is the son of an officer of the Foreign Legion who forbids him to read and make comics. In high school, he stayed with the Jesuits and then joined the paratroopers where, thanks to a subtle sabotage of exams, he deviated from the path traced by his father. He then entered the Penninghen school and then the goblin school. During these years, he meets Eric Gratien who will become the scriptwriter of Anita Bomba and Riff Reb's with whom he will found the Asylum workshop alongside Arthur Qwak and Kisler. Together, they challenge the codes of the 9th Art and in a few years, they become the leaders of a new comics school. Cromwell distinguished himself there by skillfully mixing inhabited and innovative graphics with an often corrosive and subversive discourse (Le Bal de la Sueur, Minettos Desperados, Anita Bomba).
In 2010, he shakes up his own graphic codes and adapts James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans to the screenplay with Catmalou. The following year, he published Somewhere, an artbook by Akiléos Cromwell retracing thirty years of drawing. In 2013, he created the label Week-end on Mars with Éric Gratien and joined forces with Akiléos Editions to republish Anita Bomba's various albums and publish the new adventures of this mythical character. Fascinated by vast expanses and adventure stories, he is currently preparing the adaptation of a short story by Jack London, again in collaboration with Catmalou.
