Jean-Luc Loyer
Born in 1964 in Hénin-Beaumont, Jean-Luc Loyer is a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Douai and the École des Beaux-Arts in Angoulême. He takes part in the Atelier Sanzot with Mazan, Isabelle Dethan and Cécile Chicault. After a stint in cartoons, he decided to devote himself to comic books, his lifelong passion. His first book, Les Mangeurs de cailloux, which recounts his childhood memories in the North, was selected at the Angoulême International Festival in 1998, in the "Coup de coeur" category. Jean-Luc Loyer has become very familiar with children's imaginations through frequent interventions in the classroom and in leisure centres. His Victor series is an undeniable success with children (the second volume was awarded the Young Audience prize at the Boum de Blois comics festival in 1999). Wanting to be very curious, jack-of-all-trades, and even "scattered" (according to his word), in addition to other comic book projects, he carries out works of advertising and communication, sculpture and also illustration on CD-Rom. While continuing Victor's adventures, he signs a new series, Madame La Lune (Delcourt), with Nathalie Ferlut as the illustrator, and Le Parc fantastique (drawings by Muriel Sevestre) explores the fairy-tale world of the carnival with mystery and suspense at its heart.
